Welcome to 40Knots, the home of design, engineering and construction of fast catamarans. 

40Knots focuses solely on foil-supported power catamaran design, detailed engineering and GRP vessel construction for boats up to 18m. Founded by Dick Churley and Baren Smit in 2014, the value of 40Knots lies in its partners’ track records, experience and specialist knowledge.

We are proficient at merging sound engineering principles with decades of practical experience. Combined with global best practices and the appropriate technology, we create a world-class, customised product for each client. 

With our engineering design office and factory in Cape Town, South Africa, we are well situated to serve both local and international clients.
